Sacrilege: Bra Severance

Since when trashy became trendy?

I wonder where the concept of class went…
This past weekend I ventured myself on a tour around the TV world – I have never seen so many naked breasts in my life.
At first I thought it was a TV thing: movie stars, pop artists, models etc; however when I step into the streets, malls, clubs, bars…there they are: breasts, in all shapes and sizes, exposed as if waiting for someone to bid for them.

Leaving home is quite an adventure for those who advocate modesty, good taste, class and real fashion: one looks at the right – butt cracks being flashed; one looks at the left –braless chests nearly exhibiting its nipples.
Ladies and Gentlemen, good sense, sensibility and decorum have left the building.

Why on earth did women declare war on brassieres?
There is nothing sexier than beautiful lingerie. And with the variety of designs and colours there is today, women should feel encouraged to actually wear it. But no...they prefer to auction their mammary glands.

Mystery can be so enticing. Not knowing what is under a garment arouses the imagination, which will lead to hunt. After catching its prey the hunter will invest more time in exploring the game, rather than going straight to the spot in order to satiate its famine...
What is treasured under a piece of fabric can be better appreciated and savoured as patience is exercised (through the slowly removal of garments)...I digress...

Bras aren’t the enemy; au contraire, they are a woman’s ally (regardless the size of her cup) for they prevent the breast muscle from going precociously flaccid; they sustain the breasts up, they offer a voluptuous look (a la 18th century) and, when worn properly, they create a symbiosis with clothing.
Bras don’t hold a woman’s sexuality captive; by the contrary, they set her free because a good bra, that lifts her moral, increases her self-assurance, and when a woman feels secure about herself, she becomes sexier, and once she feels as such: sexual empowerment.

Yes, in Africa (in the bush) women don’t wear brassieres. In fact (and this is very interesting), if we’d show them a video displaying what women do, in the western world (ex: to wear a seamless shirt with no bra, or an open shirt showing the breasts) they’d find it a heresy: you either cover yourself up or take it all out – there is no room for fashion hypocrisy.

But we do not live in the African bush (and to tell you the truth, if I had to, I’d start a lingerie business there: no woman would ever have breasts to their navels ever again).

Our society has immersed itself in the sea of common vulgarity...and women (in all their wisdom) instead of bringing it back to surface; are busy being led by women-haters.

  1. I have been wondering at several articles of Europeans protesting in which they all expose themselves as a community. It seems that whether they are protesting or celebrating, the way to communicate their thinking is to expose themselves.

"I have been wondering at several articles of Europeans protesting in which they all expose themselves as a community."

LOL LOL which articles have you been reading, Looney?

"It seems that whether they are protesting or celebrating, the way to communicate their thinking is to expose themselves."

You may be right...however, this is slightly different from being vulgar, isn't it?

Looney, thank you ever so much for your perspective on this :D!

  3. Max, lol, you are funny girl, the funniest yet smart post ever, you said: 'they prefer to auction their mammary glands' - none of that for anybody except Matthew for now, lol. And I tell you Max, I am uniform girl, ofcourse bra being part of it to lift my boring spirits up, lol....oh you are killing me. Excellent, what can I say!

You know once we had protest here in Canada, women wanted to go topless, but it died, because only the one's with 'not so pretty' once went, and I think they realized it wasn't worth showcasing them, lol.

oh my my Max, lol....Anna :)

  4. I think on the face of it, some might say that they expose themselves because they are comfortable with their sexuality. But frankly, I think this behavior shows the opposite. They are trying to prove to others that they are sexual, because in reality they feel insecure.

  5. "LOL LOL which articles have you been reading, Looney? "

The headlines usually get a glance, but the article doesn't get a read. Probably I am a narrow-minded bigot for thinking that those who express themselves this way do it because they aren't capable of anything more serious.

LOL LOL you kill me "to lift my boring spirits up" LOL LOL...Anna, you do not have one single boring bone within you, trust me!
LOL I just wanted to make you laugh, not kill you ;). Thanks, darling!

"You know once we had protest here in Canada, women wanted to go topless, but it died, because only the one's with 'not so pretty' once went, and I think they realized it wasn't worth showcasing them, lol."

ROFL...oh, there are "not so pretty" breasts? Hmmm...I had never thought about it...lol.
So, their case went down the drain, eh? It could never work...*nodding*.

    "oh my my Max, lol...."

    lol lol lol....

Anna, thanks for having dropped by and shared your amazing (and funny) thoughts :D!

Yes...I suppose they would say that...but it's a weak argument.

"The headlines usually get a glance, but the article doesn't get a read."

LOL LOL I can understand that...

"Probably I am a narrow-minded bigot for thinking that those who express themselves this way do it because they aren't capable of anything more serious."

No...you are not being a narrow-minded bigot for thinking that...there are many ways of making a point (the verb is one of them); and exposure is not an effective method (for nobody takes them serious).
This is like those who protest by means of violence...what do they achieve in concrete? Nothing...but a label of being notorious.

  11. Oh Max, I'm with you on that one! I like lingerie and ... well, I like my breast too. I wouldn't go walk around (or worse: run around!) without my best friend, my bra.

Showing too much is a turn off I think. It defies the purpose... it kills imagination.

It's like the G-string showing on low low extremely low rise jeans. Nope... I like my butt covered, thanks!

  12. Hi Max,

    Very interesting topic. Great image.

    "Since when trashy became trendy?"

I hate to break it to you, but it has always been trendy. That's the society that we live in, where breasts are on display instead of brains. You know what they say about breasts - they travel in pairs.

"This past weekend I ventured myself on a tour around the TV world – I have never seen so many naked breasts in my life."

Did you know that a nick name for TV is actually, "the boob tube."

"...breasts, in all shapes and sizes, exposed as if waiting for someone to bid for them."

LOL. Yes, it does look like an auction block sometimes.

"Leaving home is quite an adventure for those who advocate modesty, good taste, class and real fashion: one looks at the right – butt cracks being flashed; one looks at the left –braless chests nearly exhibiting its nipples."

    ROFL. ROFL. ROFL.

Ha ha ha ha. (holding stomach) Women burned their bras in the seventies, then everything went downhill. ;D Lingerie is sexy and some women (and men) wear them outside the house too, to markets, malls, nightclubs, etc.

"Mystery can be so enticing. Not knowing what is under a garment arouses the imagination, which will lead to hunt. After catching its prey the hunter will invest more time in exploring the game, rather than going straight to the spot in order to satiate its famine..."

    Yes, of course.

"What is treasured under a piece of fabric can be better appreciated and savoured as patience is exercised (through the slowly removal of garments)...I digress..."

Appreciating the digression and nodding in agreement.

"But we do not live in the African bush (and to tell you the truth, if I had to, I’d start a lingerie business there: no woman would ever have breasts to their navels ever again)."

    You go girl.

"Our society has immersed itself in the sea of common vulgarity...and women (in all their wisdom) instead of bringing it back to surface; are busy being led by women-haters."

Yes, women exploit women. For some reason women themselves are women-haters. Put a group of women in a room and they will wind up trying to kill each other because of jealousy, unresolved anger and because they see other women as competition. Women have to embrace their loveliness and stop competing with each other for the favor of men. There is nothing sexier than what is left to the imagination.

In Florida there was a swimming contest. The contestants were a brunette, a redhead and a blonde. They were all doing the breast stroke. The brunette came in first, the redhead second and when the blonde got to the finish line she said, "THEY CHEATED!" "The Judge said, "How?" The blonde screamed, THEY USED THEIR ARMS!"

God created woman and she had 3 breasts. He said to the woman, "Is there anything on you that you'd like to change?" She said, "Yes. Could you get rid of this middle breast?" God snapped his fingers and it was done. She exclaimed, holding the third breast in her hand, "What am I going to do with this useless boob?" And God created man.

Max, thanks for this very uplifting subject. Thank you for keeping us abreast of the situation.

    (.) (.) - perfect breasts.

    You are multitalented my friend.

    Uplifting Cheers!

  13. Hi Max,

    What a feast of humour!

1- Women auctioning their mammary glands? It is a fait-divers for they have nothing substantive to say, hence flaunting their breasts is the response.

2- Trashy became trendy from the moment women lost their sense of dignity.
Make no mistake, guys do love breasts but deep down they feel a mix of despise and pity for those women who like displaying their attributes out of context.

Women-haters make them feel less than nothing, but for some reason, in the fashion world, women are totally blinded, by those stupid intructions, to the point of not paying attention to their 6th sense: how moronic is that?

Thanks for the article, we had fun *bowing*!

"For some reason women themselves are women-haters. Put a group of women in a room and they will wind up trying to kill each other because of jealousy, unresolved anger and because they see other women as competition."

True. And it is so ridiculous! I look at humans as competition (men and women), if they are worthy of competing with (because there are people whom we shouldn't even bother).
Women should learn from men: they are sooo cool! They have their irritating traits, but they are more supportive of their own gender, more united...I admire that in men.
Put me in a room with women and as soon as I see them acting up I will tell them off "behave like a human being, please".

"Women have to embrace their loveliness and stop competing with each other for the favor of men. There is nothing sexier than what is left to the imagination.

You know ^5? That is another thing that irritates me on some women: how they will backstabb another woman just because of a man (and many times that man is worth less than nothing)...what a traitor *nodding*.
    Amen to that, sista!! ;D

"In Florida there was a swimming contest. The contestants were a brunette, a redhead and a blonde. They were all doing the breast stroke. I don't understand this kind of behaviour in women, and I never will.

"2- Trashy became trendy from the moment women lost their sense of dignity.
Make no mistake, guys do love breasts but deep down they feel a mix of despise and pity for those women who like displaying their attributes out of context."

They have lost their sense of dignity, true. I would like to know when. When did they lose it? What made them choose to lose it? And is it related with the loss of moral values in our society; or is it some other phenomenon that I fail to see?
LOL LOL oh I know guys love breasts...LOL *nodding*. But, when they need to, they don't mind using those women (for whom they feel a mix of despise and pity) for their sexual pleasures, do they?

  17. Max,

From a man's perspective, I think I will move to Portugal. You show breasts here and you are arrested for indecent exposure.

I would have thought that you would be on the "Natural" side of this controversy and not backing up "man's" creation.....the bra.

However, from a practical standpoint, I'm with you. There is nothing sexier than the imagination in mentally undressing a woman and then actually undressing her. There is something to be said for anticipation....it heightens the senses.

Having said that, I'm still moving to Portugal. And, so goes man's duplicity, or maybe it's duality.

Anyways, can you send some pictures?

LOL LOL LOL LOL oh...I know...

"I would have thought that you would be on the "Natural" side of this controversy and not backing up "man's" creation.....the bra."

LOL Mel, a woman invented the Bra: Mary P. Jacobs, in 1913. She knew that it would become a woman's best friend (even closer than a diamond LOL).
Besides, I love lingerie, and I wouldn't live without it *nodding*. "Natural"...what a blasphemy!

Breasts are part of "the oldest profession." I knew someone who told me that if a woman wants a man, all she has to do is wear a tight T-shirt. (sad isn't it?)

    ROFL. ROFL.

Did you know that the first modern brassiere was patented in 1913, and was made from two silk handkerchiefs and some pink ribbon? "Brassiere" comes from the old French word for arm protector.

  24. I couldn't agree with you more, Max. Choose one or the other, but don't waffle in the middle, juggling your jugs in self-effacing self-consciousness for the boob-obsessed males!

I've seen photos of the indigenous people and I don't find the "saggy" appendages very appetizing, but I know that's because of the false values my culture has given me.

Sex and sexuality are dangled everywhere we go in the USA. I see this as an overcompensation for the fact that we are really alienated from our bodies, from the appreciation of our true physical selves. This happens to us because we are always trying to live up to the values of beauty imposed on us by Hollywood. And with all that violence they dish out, you know what kind of judgment THEY have!

"precociously flaccid..." is so well put. You have made me laugh with this phrase.

It's sad that we seem to value neither class nor integrity very much, anymore!

I hope you are having a good week, my dear Max!

  25. Max, Max, Max;

I don't know what malls you shop at, but I'd love to go there. Bare breasts bad? I don't think so. In fact, it's just the opposite. Good, good, good.

I haven't seen a bare breasts on the streets since Clyde died. Maybe it's just plain old American backwardness. We have to be the most uptight country on the planet.

Here I am in the twilight of my life and I swear that I have never seen anything as wonderful or as beautiful as women. I am so happy to have shared the best part of a century with them. Oh yeah, brains count too.

    Happy trails.

  26. Hi Max! You’re going to hang me from the rafters for saying this, as I’ve decided to make a clean breast of things by telling you I’ve seen more “thanks for the mammaries” than you’ve had Sunday dinners.

Yonks ago when I was a midwifery student I saw so many that they almost turned me off them for good! Well, it didn’t turn out that way in the end but that’s another story.

Having to show women how to put their little bundles of joy on the nipple in front of their English or (mostly) non-English speaking partners was enough to put the wind up even the bravest of men.

Blushing (my biggest downfall then) my way from pillar to post, breast to breast, killed all the joy of delivering wee bony lads and lasses that in the end it was all too much and I ended up giving it all away.

As to why many do not wear bras, it’s probably due to the fact that after so many years of wearing the wrong size, they just give up wearing them.

In Australia over “90% of women wear a bra, most without ever asking why”.

The same probably goes for men with their ties.

Take Care and hang in there,
    Peter

It may be because of that, but let's face it: it is not a nice picture. There are some indigenous women who carry their children on their back and whenever the babies are hungry they just throw their breast over the shoulder and breast feed the kids...imagine that.

""precociously flaccid..." is so well put. You have made me laugh with this phrase."

Thank you *Bowing*! LOL LOL...I am glad I made you laugh, girl :D!

"It's sad that we seem to value neither class nor integrity very much, anymore!"

Isn't it? What has happened to us? Do you think it is related with the decay of our moral values?

"I hope you are having a good week, my dear Max!"

I am having a good week indeed, darling...thanks :D! And yourself? Is this week being productive? :D

Lynda, thank you so so much for your magnificent input: as always, your wisdom was very much appreciated *bowing*!

    Cheers

  30. Hey Swu :D!

    "Max, Max, Max;"

    LOL LOL yes...

"I don't know what malls you shop at, but I'd love to go there. Bare breasts bad? I don't think so. In fact, it's just the opposite. Good, good, good."

Oh, come to Portugal and you will see what I mean *nodding*.
LOL LOL of course they are good...for you guys...LOL...

"I haven't seen a bare breasts on the streets since Clyde died. Maybe it's just plain old American backwardness. We have to be the most uptight country on the planet."

Man, here people are just losing it! I even remember my dad telling me that he had seen, in the middle of Lisbon (in broad daylight), a woman with no lingerie whatsoever walking in the street covered by a 100% transparent dress...people were shocked.

"Here I am in the twilight of my life and I swear that I have never seen anything as wonderful or as beautiful as women. I am so happy to have shared the best part of a century with them. Oh yeah, brains count too."

Aww, that is so beautiful, Swu :)! We are beautiful indeed, it is a fact.
LOL LOL LOL...you kill me LOL LOL *nodding*!

Swu, thank you ever so much for this amazing comment: you rock! :D

    Cheers

  31. Hi Peter! :D

"You’re going to hang me from the rafters for saying this, as I’ve decided to make a clean breast of things by telling you I’ve seen more “thanks for the mammaries” than you’ve had Sunday dinners."

LOL I hear you, Pete! And you are off the hook this time, so relax lol ;)!

"Yonks ago when I was a midwifery student I saw so many that they almost turned me off them for good! Well, it didn’t turn out that way in the end but that’s another story."

    LOL LOL noooo...really? ROFL...*nodding*.

"Having to show women how to put their little bundles of joy on the nipple in front of their English or (mostly) non-English speaking partners was enough to put the wind up even the bravest of men."

I can imagine, mate! So, you actually did that job? I don't think that men do that here, in Portugal...only female nurses (but I am not sure how things work nowadays).

"Blushing (my biggest downfall then) my way from pillar to post, breast to breast, killed all the joy of delivering wee bony lads and lasses that in the end it was all too much and I ended up giving it all away."

You blushed!? For real? lol...so cute!

"As to why many do not wear bras, it’s probably due to the fact that after so many years of wearing the wrong size, they just give up wearing them."

That is a good argument, but it doesn't cut it. I know that most women wear the wrong bra size, but there are many ways of learning how to buy the proper ones - oh, they should watch Oprah more often (although I understand why they don't).

"In Australia over “90% of women wear a bra, most without ever asking why”."

90%...not bad. Do they need to ask "why"? Try being a woman with breasts and start running around a block...that's why...

"The same probably goes for men with their ties."

    I love ties in men...

Peter, thanks a million for your input: it is always a delight to hear you :D! And worry not, I will hang in there!

    Cheers

"Actually, no.........completely different senses at work here. Cookies after......I don't smoke."

Oh, I got it...*taking notes: Mel doesn't smoke, so after....he eats cookies*.

Alexys, we must come up with another idea.

  33. Max, I think our moral values have been EXTERNALIZED by too much of organized religion. Emphasis on "organized."

Often, the dogma and emphasis on obedience, are infantilizing for us. We give up our personal power and authority, to someone else's idea of God.

I believe that our relationshop with God is much more personal, and less formulaic. Formulas (formulae?) limit wisdom.

We show up at houses of worship, pray or confess, then go right out and do opportunistic or exploitive things to our friends and neighbors.

I think we need to INTERNALIZE values. Then we will be heeding our own intellect, conscience, and authority, and find more self-respect in it.

My week is like a merry-go-round. As usual. Not to complain. It's my own fault for the lifestyle I/we choose, as well as elder-care and health issues, etc. etc. Such is life!

I'm glad you're having a good week, Max. I loved your post.

  34. Hi Max,

There was an episode on Nip/Tuck where Christian and Sean "experimented." It was too strange even for them. They attributed it to a "bad" dream. I think it was in season 2 or 3?

I guess the thing about breasts is that they support each other. ;D

    Supportive Cheers!

  35. Lynda,

"I think our moral values have been EXTERNALIZED by too much of organized religion. Emphasis on "organized.""

I hear you on "organised religion". But don't you think that we should be able to think beyond organised religion?

"Often, the dogma and emphasis on obedience, are infantilizing for us. We give up our personal power and authority, to someone else's idea of God."

    That is interesting...

"I believe that our relationshop with God is much more personal, and less formulaic. Formulas (formulae?) limit wisdom."

    I agree with you.

"We show up at houses of worship, pray or confess, then go right out and do opportunistic or exploitive things to our friends and neighbors."

lol so true. Let me share something with you: my mom is Catholic, and she stopped going to the church every Sunday, because she said that whenever the time would come to hug each other as brothers/sisters, people would choose whom to hug...and she found it highly hypocritical. So she quit going.

"I think we need to INTERNALIZE values. Then we will be heeding our own intellect, conscience, and authority, and find more self-respect in it."

Now you said it all: self-respect! People seem to have lost it.

"My week is like a merry-go-round. As usual. Not to complain. It's my own fault for the lifestyle I/we choose, as well as elder-care and health issues, etc. etc. Such is life!"

Girl, as long as you are fit to think and express your intelligent thoughts, you are blessed! All the rest: details of existence!

"I'm glad you're having a good week, Max. I loved your post."

    Thank you, my friend *hug*!

  36. Good for your mom! Many people seem unable to disengage from groups to whom they feel an obligation or in whom they perceive authority.

I believe in God, but chose not to compete with other human beings via our cultural or religious beliefs, for the "true" version of what or who God is, and how we are to pay homage to religious ideals.

As far as I'm concerned, the imperative for morality is self-evident. It IS truly a survival imperative!

"There was an episode on Nip/Tuck where Christian and Sean "experimented." It was too strange even for them. They attributed it to a "bad" dream. I think it was in season 2 or 3?"

I didn't watch that episode! Really? Like my mother would say "too funky, too funky" *nodding*...
    A "bad" dream, eh? Right...

"I guess the thing about breasts is that they support each other. ;D"

    ROFL...you know? ;D

  39. Lynda,

"Good for your mom! Many people seem unable to disengage from groups to whom they feel an obligation or in whom they perceive authority."

Well, like she says about herself "I am a God damn liberal"; so...although she takes pride in being catholic, she doesn't put up with BS.

"I believe in God, but chose not to compete with other human beings via our cultural or religious beliefs, for the "true" version of what or who God is, and how we are to pay homage to religious ideals."

I hear you, girl! Our relationship with God is something extremely personal; there is not template for it.

"As far as I'm concerned, the imperative for morality is self-evident. It IS truly a survival imperative!"

Well said! I do enjoy our conversations :D!

  40. I enjoy our talks too, Max!

As for being liberal, I once placed to the far left of the Dalai Lama in a "political-personality" test. Yet I am not permissive, and I don't like bad manners or excessive profanity, or litter and waste, or violence, or flaunted sexuality.... And I like order, not anarchy.

SO, who can figure it all out?

  41. Lynda,

"I enjoy our talks too, Max!"

    *Happy face*!

"As for being liberal, I once placed to the far left of the Dalai Lama in a "political-personality" test. Yet I am not permissive, and I don't like bad manners or excessive profanity, or litter and waste, or violence, or flaunted sexuality.... And I like order, not anarchy."

LOL those personality tests can be soooo wrong. I used to think I was liberal, but as time went by I came to realise that I may be a bit conservative (like you, I am not permissive, I dislike bad manners, excessive profanity, litter shocks me, I avoid violence, I detest vulgarity, I am obsessed by organisation and order, I loath anarchy, and family comes first); but then there are things in which I clash with conservatives...so perhaps there isn't an exact label for me lol *nodding*.

"SO, who can figure it all out?"

Only God, Lynda...only God. That is why I leave the judgements to Him.

  43. Lol Max I hear ya.

Hey working in a Mall over the summer months you see lots, actually too much, lol.

Being the Father of 2 girls, let me tell you there is no talking sense into them.

Dad: "Where do you think you're going dressed like that"

    Daughter: "To the Mall"

    Dad: "No you're not"

    Daughter: "Yes I am"

    Dad: "No you aren't"

    Daughter: "Yes I Am"

    SLAM

Dad, "Fine, wait till you get back"

They do grow out of it eventually and dress more modestly, but also, when did it become fashion for guys to wear pants down to their knees, nothing worse then walking behind a guy with his underwear showing, lol.

  44. Hey Scott :D!

LOL LOL poor dads...now that I read this, I actually feel sorry for dads *nodding*!

"They do grow out of it eventually and dress more modestly, but also, when did it become fashion for guys to wear pants down to their knees, nothing worse then walking behind a guy with his underwear showing, lol."

Yeah, I also grew out of my torn jeans (cut on my knees and below the butt LOL - it used to drive my dad mad)...
Oh, those pants are terrible!! LOL LOL LOL I hear you!

Bob, thank you so much for your input: man, you made me laugh! Loved it!!
